Kids christmas party

The day after the suprise party it was the kids christmas party put on by Jase's work. It was great fun, a BBQ, bouncy castle, lolly scramble, santa and pressies, candy floss machines. It was a great day (I got sunburnt!) It was held at Anderson Park which is an art gallery with a pavillion outside and a great kids playground.

So after the damper at our place we all went to Armagh for a suprise for Peter - Helen had invited some of his friends and they were all there before he got back. It was a fun night.

For Peters birthday last weekend we lit the bonfire and made damper - its a doughy type bread that you wrap around a stick and cook over the fire embers. We also toasted marshmallows. Yum!

Clever Kiddies

Well tonight I was blown away twice by my little boys so felt it was worth sharing my proud mummy moment.

First Jase asked me to go and get something for him to drink - as he was offering to make tea in my absence I thought it was a pretty good trade!
Sam and Jess wanted to come for the ride so they hopped in the truck. We pulled up outside the florist and they have animated, light up snowmen and reindeer so we stopped to have a wee look and oohed and ahhed a bit.
When we got into the shop Jess asked if the kids could have something to drink so I got some sparkling grape juice - we called it Kids Wine. She was very excited and even more so when dad popped the cork and made it hit the ceiling!
I got some real wine glasses out of the cupboard for their Kids Wine. (here comes proud mummy moment 1...) Sam lined the glasses up and pointed to each one as he counted 1, 2, 3, 4. I was suprised (although we have rote counted and modelled counting he hasnt spontaniously counted one to one before) anyway I got him to do it again for Jase and yup he did it perfectly. So I am pretty proud that at 2yrs8mths Sammy knows how to count to a stage often kids cant do when they start school!

Proud mummy moment 2 - we were eating tea and I gave Charlie some ham to munch on (carnivore that boy!) while he was eating I loaded his spoon and left it infront of him while I grabbed a few bites of my tea. The wee man picks up the spoon and pops the food in his mouth without a bit of a mess.
Of course my positive reaction to his skilled agility made him laugh and smile and we did end up with him wacking the end of the next spoon and sending carrots and new potatoes flying across the room. But he pretty much ate his whole tea by himself with me putting the food on the spoon for him.

This is the yarn I recieved in the yarn swap that I did. I also used the suggested pattern from my yarn fairy. I did the 18month size thinking it would give plenty of room to grow but Charlie Boomba almost fills it already!! (good job I didnt do the 1yr size huh!) I love how it has knitted up and will be using the pattern again as it is so easy and looks great. It was knitted on cicular needles and required me to have a search on the internet to learn some new skills so I am really pleased with the resulting skills and finished project.

Christmas comes but once a year..........

Becuase Sam cant have the chocolate advent calenders I decided to make on and fill it with treats he could have so this is what I came up with - the picture doesnt do it justice really (getting dark and too much flash) But there are 24 pockets, each one with number stitched onto it. I will add a banner across the top at some stage too with something like Merry Christmas or the like on it. The material is contrasting christmas stars.

More yarn dying

So after my first try at dyeing yarn I decided to try again this time with coloured yarn to see how it would turn out. I got three balls of the wool/acrylic mix for a $1 in a sale so wasnt too worried if it turned out terrible!

And this is the finished result - a nice subtle varigation.

I have just started knitting it up into a singlet for Charlie for the summer and it is self striping - which suprised me and was totally unintentional but looks really funky. I will post some more piccies where there is more of it too see!

Balloons

We popped up to the cemetary and let some balloons go and popped some flowers there for Katie. We also took her her little cake.

Sammy was a little disappointed when his balloon didnt come back and wanted to know when was Katie bringing it back. So I promised to get him some for his birthday too!

Katies Birthday

So many of you will know that recently it was Katies birthday, we did a few special things to mark her day.

Candles lit

The kids wanted to make a cake - which was a little interesting, the power was going out so we had to rush a little to make a cake. I decided to cook it quick in the microwave which resulted in a slightly solid (read rock hard!) cake. Anyway we had fun decorating and blowing out candles!

Mum sent some gorgeous flowers which had a balloon attached. The balloon flew off just as I was putting them in the car. Jessa decided Katie was a cheeky monkey who wanted to have a her balloon so she stole it!!

Dress up day

Well ok, Jessa wasnt dressing up but she wanted to be in the pictures!!!

So book week at school always includes a dress up day - so here is 'The Worst Witch"

Cutie pie

Couldnt resist popping the cutie pie on here - he is getting big here (boo hoo!) he is now bum shuffling, just a little bit, he can brrrrrrrrr on his bottom lip (you know what I mean!) and click his tongue and he is sooooooooooooooooo cute and snuggly my little boomba!

Finished another one

So I finally finished Laura's bolero. It is the zoomy wool again and her choice of pattern. The pattern didnt have a button but we decided it would work with one and fit her better so we found a cool chunky button and popped it on.

Laura asked if she could use the camera to take some pictures yesterday. When I downloaded them I found several little movies that she has 'produced' they are so cool I thought I would share.

The tunnel house update

As promised, not a brilliant photo - I will take more tomorrow as I planted some new stuff. I have replaced the strawberries, checked the electric fence and growled at the lambies! So hopefully they wont eat them again.

Busy baking

Ok so that wasnt quite the last entry for the week - Winton is having its annual open day tomorrow (Sunday) its a great day, there is a teddy bears picnic for the kids, all the shops have money off, there is craft stalls, bands, lolly scrambles - the works really. It is usually a great day out and very popular.

Lauras class is going away on school camp next month so they are having a cake stall to raise money for some of the funds. So I set too and made cupcakes - red velvet cupcakes actually (which basically means they have cocoa and red food colouring in them!) I decided it would be a good way of using up the extra icing that we had from Daniels birthday cake so it wouldnt go to waste. So the magenta pink came into its own.

So we have 1.5dozen red velvet cupcakes - two dozen mini cupcakes.

16 big cookie time style cookies - six bags of caramel popcorn (mmmm yum, was tempted to keep and eat!)

So I am also going to take some more photos of the tunnel house to show you as there is much more in there and it is looking really good. Which is more than I can say for my strawberries that are now languishing inside a couple of little lambs who discovered that the electric fence wasnt working very well!!! Arrrgh! I am hoping there is a plant stall with strawberrie plants (nice big ones!) tomorrow so I can replace them now Jase has discovered where the short was coming from (the neighbours) and fixed the fence.

Bath time antics

It was hair wash time in the bath last night so we decided to get funky..........
